Training in Restorative Justice and Mediation for Probation Officers - January 2017

During January 2017, as part of the project on “Integration of Juveniles in Conflict with the law through restorative justice”, training on restorative justice and victim-offender mediation was organized. The training was attended by 34 probation officers from local probation service offices from Korca, Puka Lezha, Tropoja, Saranda, Lushnja, Tirana, Kukësi, Mat, Shkodër, Vlora, Berat, Kavaja, Peshkopi, Fier, Elbasan, as well as some students of the Master Program on Administration of Justice from the Faculty of Social Sciences (UT). 

The workshop was organized in cooperation with the General Directorate of Probation Service.

In their presentation, the probation and mediation experts focused on the concept, philosophy and values of restorative justice and mediation, particularly in the case of juveniles in conflict with the law, as well as on the institutional cooperation between the probation service and the mediation one. Importance was paid to introduction of ADR and mediation in criminal matters, the legal base, the development of such alternative in Albania with the support of the EU, UNICEF, Save the Children, etc.
